As coverage of the Haiti earthquake and its aftermath continues to expand, many people in our community are asking how they can help by donating to charities involved with relief efforts. If you would like to give money to these relief activities, we have compiled a list of international organizations that have mobilized relief efforts.
Before donating, you may find it helpful to read this NPR article about deciding on where to donate your money.
Text "HAITI" to 90999 to donate $10 to Red Cross efforts in Haiti. Your donation will appear on your cell phone bill.
Text "YELE" to 501501 to donate $5 to musician Wyclef Jean's Yele Haiti. Your donation will appear on your cell phone bill.
These organizations offer further information on a broader range of NGOs to which you can donate.
Please note that KQED does not endorse any of these organizations. We have compiled this list as a resource for you to use as a starting point for your own personal research.
