Producer and reporter Erika Kelly came to KQED as an intern for The California Report in the fall of 2001 and never left. Erika fell in love with radio in college, when it was a constant companion during long hours spent researching a thesis in botany. Erika cast aside dreams of scientific glory and instead attended graduate school at Northwestern University's Medill School of Journalism in her hometown of Chicago.

Erika has reported for publications ranging from Time Magazine in Paris to California's Imperial Valley Press. She now produces stories and interviews for The California Report and KQED's Northern California newscasts.
