This week’s Do List co-host Marc Bamuthi Joseph liked Black Odyssey at California Shakespeare Theater so much, he went back the next night with his wife, kids, and in-laws. It’s an adaptation of Homer’s Odyssey by Marcus Gardley, raised in Oakland, which name-checks everyone from Paw Sidin (Poseidon) and Tiresias to Emmett Till and Tina Turner. Check out KQED theater critic John Wilkins’ review hereBlack Odyssey runs Aug. 9–Sept. 3 at California Shakespeare Theater; details here.
