This week, Cajon Valley Union School District board members voted unanimously to approve what they call a bill of rights for parents. The store at the Lamb Canyon Landfill is now officially welcoming shoppers on the last Saturday of each month, letting people pick-up exercise equipment, camping gear, bicycles, and tons of
other discarded, but still good, items.

New Poll Shows Growing Support For Tough On Crime Bill

A new survey from UC Berkeley’s Institute for Governmental Studies shows strong support for Proposition 36, which would gut some criminal justice reforms, by making it easier to charge repeat shoplifters and drug users with felonies. 

Voters favor the measure by more than 30 points, with support across most demographic groups. The survey of more than 3700 likely voters also found majority support for Proposition 32, which would raise California’s minimum wage from $16 to $18 an hour by 2026.

San Diego County School District Tests New CA Law On Gender Notification

Cajon Valley Union School District in San Diego County adopted a new policy Wednesday that requires school administrators to inform parents if students younger than 12 ask to change their name or pronouns at school, or to use a different restroom.

Just last month, California became the first U.S. state to bar school districts from requiring staff to notify parents of their child’s gender identification change.

The law bans school rules requiring teachers and other staff to disclose a student’s gender identity or sexual orientation to any other person without the child’s permission. Proponents of the legislation say it will help protect LGBTQ+ students who live in unwelcoming households. But opponents say it will hinder schools’ ability to be more transparent with parents.
