Lilly Hiatt is a country rocker from Nashville, the daughter of legendary singer-songwriter John Hiatt, and she’s got a new album out, Trinity Lane, about her love for rock and roll — and about not giving in to self-destructive impulses involving love or alcohol. My co-host Eli Wirtschafter heard some of these songs with different ears, arguing with me (what kind of co-host does that?!) that Trinity Lane is an alcohol-soaked road trip around the country, with mentions of other musicians who have been down that road, like Neil Young and David Bowie and Bruce Springsteen. Either way, Hiatt is writing and playing great music, and she’s got two dates in the Bay Area opening for Blitzen Trapper. Details here.
