Marissa Ortega-Welch

Marissa Ortega-Welch is an intern for KQED Science News. Prior to this, she interned for KPFA in Berkeley. In addition to her radio work, she has taught environmental education for the past ten years and is currently the Youth Education Manager for the Golden Gate Audubon Society of the Bay Area. She’s also worked as a field biologist, surveying birds on the West Coast from California to Alaska, and specializing in identifying birds by ear. She holds a BS in Conservation and Resource Studies from UC Berkeley.
