Legendary chef and Yan Can Cook television host Martin Yan brought No Crumbs’ Josh Decolongon on a personal food tour of San Francisco’s Chinatown this summer. Since we were feeling the warm weather vibes, our first stop had to be barbecue. Martin guided us towards a little BBQ spot on Stockton Street called Gourmet Delight.

Gourmet Delight isn’t a “sit-down and enjoy” barbecue restaurant. Instead meat-enthusiasts who are in the know pull up to a take-out counter and are treated to plastic containers piled high with succulent roast duck, barbecue pork, fried chicken and other carnivorous and neighborhood specialties. It’s hard for us to pick a favorite, but the roast duck felt like home, conjuring sweet memories of Sunday night family dinners from long ago.

Traversing Chinatown with the one-and-only Martin Yan was just as fun and enlightening as you might expect – a surreal pleasure after having watched  him on television for so many years. Everywhere we went in the neighborhood, people called out his Chinese name ( 甄文達) from across the street or quickly put on lipstick before asking for a selfie. We’ll be posting more videos from our behind-the-scenes adventure at some of the most fabled and fabulous eateries in Chinatown through September, so be sure to subscribe to our channels or follow along here.
