We got our buns to Chinatown to meet up with the one-and-only Martin Yan of Yan Can Cook at AA Bakery. The bakery case was hypnotizing, piled high with both sweet and savory treats including delectable gai mei bao pork buns and flaky egg custard tarts. With so many options swirling before me like a fever dream, I found myself in danger of a pastry overdose the minute we set foot in the front door. Luckily, I had Martin Yan, the most esteemed guide imaginable, to help navigate the labyrinth of tantalizing baked goods.
