California to Become First State to Require Solar Panels on New Homes

The California Energy Commission unanimously voted to amend the state’s building code Wednesday to require that virtually all new homes have solar panels. The mandate, which goes into effect on Jan 1, 2020, will apply to houses, condos and apartment buildings up to three stories high. We discuss what the mandate will mean for consumers, the housing industry and the environment.
