PG&E said it plans to file for bankruptcy protection in the face of massive liabilities from the deadly California wildfires.
Fire officials are still investigating whether PG&E equipment caused the Camp Fire that killed at least 86 people and destroyed nearly 14,000 homes in November.
State investigators have determined that the utility company’s equipment was responsible for at least 18 wildfires that swept across Northern California in October 2017.
Earlier this month, Standard & Poor’s downgraded PG&E’s credit rating to junk status.
