San Francisco supervisors voted to ban the use of facial recognition technology by police and other city departments.

Civil liberties groups were happy the ban would block what Supervisor Aaron Peskin called “Big Brother technology.”

OK, I know there are serious privacy issues here — that include built-in race and gender biases — but I just couldn’t resist doing a cartoon about facial recognition technology’s nemesis: San Francisco’s love of the beard.
