Updated 12:45 p.m. Saturday: After being hospitalized for an injury on a trip to Luxembourg, House Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi underwent successful hip replacement surgery Saturday morning.

In a statement, Pelosi’s office says she is “well on the mend.”

The former House Speaker was traveling with a congressional delegation to mark the 80th anniversary of the Battle of the Bulge.

Her office says she was hurt during what the office calls an official engagement, but did not share further details about the injury.

CNN reported that the injuries were sustained after a fall on the stairs.

Pelosi expressed gratitude for care she received at the medical center at the Landstuhl Army Base in Germany and at Hospital Kirchberg in Luxembourg.

“Speaker Pelosi is enjoying the overwhelming outpouring of prayers and well wishes and is ever determined to ensure access to quality health care for all Americans,” her office said.
