Holi arrives this week, and there are a ton of parties across the Bay Area over the coming days that will leave you covered head-to-toe in the colorful powder special to this Hindu celebration.

Holi — also known as the Festival of Colors — is widely celebrated in South Asian countries and among its diaspora as a joyous start to spring.

The major highlight of any Holi celebration is when the attendees — who often wear white or light-colored clothing — throw kaleidoscopic powder at each other. (If this is your first Holi, a tip: consider wearing clothes you don’t mind being a little less white after a wash.)

While Holi itself this year is scheduled to fall on Thursday, March 13, and Friday, March 14, many events will take place over the coming weekends, so be sure to double-check the date before buying any tickets.

It’s best to get your tickets quickly since some popular events — like a Holi celebration on a cruise — are already sold out. Some ticket prices may also rise closer to the event.
