Mill Valley Music Festival returns to the North Bay May 10–11, and this year the independent festival has one of its most dynamic lineups to date.

Headlining Saturday, May 10 is Gary Clark Jr., the virtuosic guitarist who counts Stevie Wonder among his fans. In addition to Grammy-winning solo work that blends roots rock, blues, jazz and funk, Clark Jr. has had some impressive collaborations, including his instrumentation on Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter.

Clark Jr. is currently headlining the NBA All-Star Concert Series in San Francisco this weekend; his return to the Bay for the Mill Valley Music Festival will offer the chance to see him in a more low-key setting, at Friends Field in a tranquil suburb at the foot of scenic Mount Tamalpais.

Also performing on the first day of the festival are the soul-meets-rock ’n’ roll outfit Crosby Collective, Malian singer and guitarist Vieux Farka Touré, jazz band Ghost-Note and Bay Area singer-songwriter Elliott Peck.

Headlining Sunday, May 11 is the legendary disco band Nile Rogers & Chic, whose timeless hits like “Good Times” and “Le Freak” defined their era and helped launch a new one, via early hip-hop samples. Reggae and dancehall hitmaker Sister Nancy, whose 1982 song “Bam Bam” brings feel-good vibes to any dance floor, also performs Sunday, along with soul bands Monophonics and Thee Sinseers and high-energy San Francisco brass band Mission Delirium.

Mill Valley Music Festival takes place May 10–11, 2025 at Friends Field in Mill Valley.
