The acclaimed podcast exploring the unexplained through real-life supernatural tales will release new episodes and archival favorites on a weekly basis beginning Friday, April 7

April 5, 2023––In partnership with public media organizations KQED and PRX, “Snap Judgment Presents: Spooked,” the acclaimed podcast exploring the unexplained through real-life supernatural tales, will release its catalog of heart-pounding episodes free to listeners across all major podcast platforms, including a mix of new episodes and exhilarating favorites from the archive.

Episodes of “Spooked” will be released every Friday beginning April 7 in the “Snap Judgment Presents: Spooked” podcast feed, found on Apple Podcasts, Amazon Music, Spotify, Pocket Casts, Overcast, NPR One, and more. Featuring stories told firsthand by people who can barely believe it themselves, “Spooked” is a project of the team behind the iconic public radio program “Snap Judgment” and is hosted by creator Glynn Washington.

Upcoming episodes will feature spine-tingling stories from around the world––the Caribbean, Mexico, Columbia, India, and beyond––including a man who encounters a stubborn cat-like entity that refuses to go away, a tattoo practitioner who learns to extract the spirits of ancestors, and a young man in the military confronted by the past.

As part of the partnership announced today, PRX will provide support for “Spooked” in areas including distribution and technology, advertising sales, marketing, and promotion, and KQED in San Francisco is also a supporting partner of the production. “Spooked” launched in 2017 and has since released seven seasons evoking deep wonder of the unknown, including seasons in partnership with the subscription podcast network Luminary. Now, the podcast will no longer require a paid subscription to listen.

“We’re beyond grateful to all our listeners who’ve helped make ‘Spooked’ a success, and we’re excited for this new chapter,” said Glynn Washington, host, creator, and co-executive producer. “The killer production team of Snap Judgment Studios are the best in the business. We’re thrilled to bring audiences more. More ghouls. More ghosts. More angels. Demons. Things that make you question it all…”

Cinematically edited and electrifyingly produced, the “Spooked” team includes Glynn Washington, Mark Ristich, Marisa Dodge, Davey Kim, Zoë Ferrigno, Anne Ford, and Erick Yañez, Yari Bundy, Miles Lassi, Doug Stuart, and Leon Morimoto. Praised by “Rolling Stone,” “PureWow,” “Mashable,” and more, “USA Today” states of the podcast: “Don’t believe in the supernatural? The show [could] convert you.”

PRX are also partners to the team behind “Snap Judgment” on the weekly public radio show long-beloved for its groundbreaking, evocative approach to narrative storytelling. The “Snap Judgment” radio show and podcast is distributed by PRX. In fall 2021, KQED and PRX opened the PRX Podcast Garage at KQED, a community space for audio producers of all experience levels.

“We’re delighted to partner further with the powerful storytelling team behind ‘Snap Judgment’ and to join with our public media colleagues at KQED to help bring ‘Spooked’ to listeners everywhere,” says Jason Saldanha, Chief of Business Development and Content at PRX. “‘Spooked’ stories resonate on the personal level while also exploring the unknown forces of our world. Listeners are in for a treat.”

“We’re excited to partner with ‘Snap Judgment’ and PRX to lift the veil on this next chapter of ‘Spooked’,” says Holly Kernan, Chief Content Officer at KQED. “Whether it’s the ghost towns of the Sierra Nevada foothills or abandoned tunnels beneath San Francisco, KQED has produced some of the more peculiar and mysterious Bay Area stories in our own podcasts. Now we are thrilled that wider audiences will have an opportunity to experience the premier storytelling podcast series exploring the mysterious and supernatural.”

About Glynn Washington and “Spooked”
The grandson of a seer, “Spooked” host Glynn Washington was born to a family haunted by ghosts. As a teenager, he witnessed his first exorcism––and began the process of whispering back to the shadows plaguing his nighttime. As a student of magic, Glynn has traveled the world in search of the mystic, the strange, and the divine. “I can’t explain everything I’ve seen,” Washington admits. “I keep wondering, what am I missing? That’s really what this show is all about.”

“Spooked” is a project of “Snap Judgment,” the popular podcast and public radio show co-founded by Washington and Mark Ristich in July 2010. “Snap Judgment” airs weekly on hundreds of stations nationwide and is available on-demand across all major podcast platforms.
