The Latest is a first-of-its kind podcast from KQED that brings listeners Bay Area and California news as it happens.

News podcasts have become an increasingly popular and important way for listeners to get local news. But the nature of podcast publishing has meant that listeners are generally getting updates to their preferred news podcasts at most once a day, often after other relevant news developments have occurred. To close this gap, KQED developed The Latest, an innovative new podcast that is dynamically updated throughout the day, every day, to deliver only the most current reporting and news stories about the Bay Area and California.

Unlike traditional news podcasts, The Latest is designed to give listeners news that’s as fresh and relevant as if it was being listened to live. Hosted by KQED’s award-winning reporter Bianca Taylor and powered by KQED’s trusted newsroom, The Latest provides the headlines, context, and updates that shape the Bay Area.

“Local news is as critical as ever,” says Chief Content Officer Holly Kernan. “The Latest is a reflection of KQED’s promise to meet our audiences where they are with the most important news and reporting affecting our lives and local communities here in the Bay Area.”

Made in partnership between KQED and the audio technology company Spooler, The Latest is a first-to-market innovation that aggregates KQED’s top local newscasts and other timely content for podcast listeners. The Latest is updated more than a dozen times every day with episodes that are 20 minutes or less, ensuring listeners are getting quickly digestible, trustworthy news that is as fresh as any live reporting.

The Latest is available wherever you get your podcasts. Start listening to find out what’s happening now.
